The ensemble, now officially known as the Band of the Air Force Reserve Pipe Band, wears highland dress, including kilt and sporran, though only when performing together. The Band of the Air Force Reserve Pipe Band is - along with the U.S. Coast Guard Pipe Band - one of only two kilted units in the United States military (other than those maintained by state defense forces and the service academies).
