The 2nd Siberian Rifle Regiment (2-й Сибирский стрелковый полк), known in 1914 as General of Infantry-Adjutant General Count Muravyov-Amursky's Siberian Rifle Regiment was a former siberian rifle regiment of the Imperial Russian Army. The regiment participated in the Boxer Rebellion, Russo-Japanese War, and later World War I.
History[]
In 1831, the 2nd Siberian Rifle Regiment was formed, and by 1898, the regiment was expanded to 2 battalions. By 1905 the regiment had expanded up to 4 battalions. By 1908, the regiment's Colonel-in-Chief renamed the regiment in honour of himself, Count Muravyov-Amur the regiment kept this title until its disbandment. During this time, the regiment was known as General of Infantry and Adjutant-General Count Muravyov-Amurskty's 5th Siberian Rifle Regiment. The regiment's headquarters was as Nikolsk-Ussuriysk.
