Arnold Sutermeister (born in Switzerland 1830; from Zofingen; died in 1907) was a contractor in the West of United States (business in Fort Wayne and Kansas City).[1] Sutermeister was also a Captain in the Civil War,[1] where he was Second Brigade Captain (Indiana Light) and commanded a battery under William T. Sherman.

He was married to Louise Johanna Leibnitz Sutermeister (1836–1906). On November 16, 1869, his son Arnold Henry Sutermeister was born in Fort Wayne (died June 30, 1918).[1] They had another daughter, Louise.
