- Time — Mainly active during the 17th century and 18th century in Italy (c.1600−c.1800). It could be dated as following Mannerism, &/or beginning with the "PC era" — the post-Carracci or post-Caravaggio.
- Place — Active or born or trained in what is or is considered historic Italy.
- Manner — Worked in a style influenced, directly or indirectly, by either the Caracci or by Caravaggio and in a style not clearly recognized as Neoclassicism.
