Pikemen & Musketeers at Lord Mayor's Show 2011

The Company of Pikemen and Musketeers is a unit of the Honourable Artillery Company. Currently, its men are drawn from veterans of the parent unit. They hold a Royal Warrant from the Queen to provide a ceremonial bodyguard for the Lord Mayor of London and escort his carriage every year at the Lord Mayor's Show.[1]

They are equipped with muskets and pikes and are uniformed in the style of the 17th century. Their drill follows the manual of Militarie Discipline published in 1638 by Colonel William Bariffe, a veteran artillerist who fought in the English Civil War under John Hampden.
