Early life[edit | edit source]
Donald was born in Wisconsin on December 25, 1917 to Fred and Hattie E. Zwicke. He also six brothers (Albert, Alfred, George, Walter, Franklin, and Harvey) and four sisters (Anna, Helen, Margaret, and Marion). He married Valerie T. Karner on Nov. 7, 1941.
Military service & death[edit | edit source]
He was drafted into the United States Army and enlisted from Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 19, 1941 (ASN: 36213644). He joined Company I, 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division. He was wounded in July 1944 and died from the wounds on the 17th of that month. He was buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-mer, France.
