Gilbert East Jolliffe was MP for Petersfield in the last two parliaments[1] before the 1832 Great Reform Act.[2] Jolliffe was the eldest son of the Reverend William John Jolliffe and his wife Julia née Pytches.[3] He served in the army until his election victory.[4] His younger brother William was the 1st Baron Hylton.[5]
