HMS Aurora was a 28-gun Enterprise-class sixth-rate frigate of the Royal Navy. The Aurora was first commissioned in July 1777 under the command of Captain James Cumming. On 16 December 1796, command passed to the then captain Henry Digby who spent around two years in the Mediterranean attacking French and Spanish shipping.
The frigate features in a contemporary work of naval fiction Mr Midshipman Easy by Captain Frederick Marryat.
