HistoryEdit

The castle was built in the Gusuku Period of Ryūkyūan history. It was the home of the Aji of Tamagusuku Magiri. After Nanzan was conquered in 1429 by Shō Hashi, it came under the control of the Ryūkyū Kingdom.
