These are the ranks in the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), with their equivalents in the Armed Forces. These men and women report to the following:

  • The President of the Republic of the Philippines
    • through the office of the Secretary of the Interior and Local Government
    • the office of The Undersecretary for Public Safety, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG); and
    • the office of The Undersecretary for Peace and Order, DILG.

In the Bureau of Corrections (BUCOR), the officers and personnel report to the President through the office of the Secretary of Justice.

  • Director General (DG) (Chief of Agency; Four-star General Officer) (Active only in the PNP & BUCOR; PNP & BUCOR's highest rank)
  • Deputy Director General (DDG) (Three-star Lieutenant General Officer) (Active only in the PNP & BUCOR) - Deputy Chief for Administration & Deputy Chief for Operations.
  • Director (Dir.) (Two-star Major General Officer) (Current highest rank in the BFP and BJMP)
  • Chief Superintendent (C/Supt.) (One-star Brigadier General Officer) - Regional, National Support Unit, & District Directors

  • Senior Superintendent (S/Supt.) (Colonel) (3 silver leaves) - Provincial & City Directors & Deputy Regional Directors.
  • Superintendent (Supt.) (Lieutenant Colonel) (insignia: two silver leaves)  - Chief of Police / Fire Marshall / Jail Warden / Correctional Head, Deputy City Directors, Deputy Provincial Directors, & Regional Office Spokesperson.
  • Chief Inspector (C/Insp.) (Major) (silver leaf) - Chief of Police / Fire Marshall / Jail Warden / Correctional Head, & District Spokespersons.
  • Senior Inspector (S/Insp.) (Captain) (2 bronze pips) - Lawyers, Prosecutors, Chaplains, Deputy Chief of Police, Deputy Fire Marshall, Deputy Jail Warden, Deputy Corrections Head, Provincial Office Spokespersons, & Medical Doctors
  • Inspector (Insp.) (1st & 2nd Lieutenant) (1 bronze pip) - Dentists, Engineers, I.T. Officers, Forensic Examiners, Criminologists, Therapists, Rescuers, Certified Public Accountants, Chemists, Biologists, Architects, Psychologists, Teachers, Nurses, Guidance Counselors, & Social Workers.
