It has being incorrectly assumed that the building was nicknamed Magic Mountain, Recent research has revealed that if the base personnel referred to building as anything other than the avionics building, then the nickname Dragon mountain was used. Which makes more sense as the TR-1 aircraft at Alconbury are nicknamed Dragon lady's, Also Personnel of 17 TRW called themselves 'Dragon Keeper's'. Dragon Mountain is the name of a bunker at RAF Alconbury that was in use from 1989-1991. At the time it was built,It was built to service and repair avionics installed in the
Today, the facility has been refurbished with plans for it to be used as an emergency facility in the event of a natural disaster.
