Michman (Russian: ми́чман), derived from English: midshipmam (literal: “middle ship man” or “men in the middle of the ship”), is the designation of the lowest ober-ofizer rank in the Russian Imperial Navy until 1917. It was restored in the 1970s as military rank, comparable to warrant officer (WO-1)[1]/ NCO (OR-9)[2] in NATO, though it may still be used in the Russian Federation, as well as in naval force of other countries.

Michman is also the collective designation to the newly established michman career group with the ranks Michman (junior grade) and Starchij michman (senior grade). This rank group is between the non-commissioned ranks and the commissioned officers, and is equivalent to the Praporshchik rank group, established parallel in Army and Air Force well.
