Angammana was educated at Dharmaraja College, Kandy.[3] He was commissioned to the Sri Lanka Engineers corps as he joined the Army. On July 30, 1995, when he was returning from an investigation into a terrorist attack on a government camp, the vehicle he was returning, caught in a land mine buried by the LTTE.[4] Angammana, with 3 other officers was killed due to the explosion. 13 other soldiers were injured.
