Samuel Sydney "Sam" Zurier (27 February 1907 in Providence, Rhode Island - 2 April 1997 in West Palm Beach, Florida) was an American Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II.

Early life

Sam was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 27, 1907[1] to Abraham and Rebecca Zurier.[1] He also had a brother named Milton.[1] His parents were immigrants from Russia.

Military service

He enlisted in the United States Army from Hartford, Connecticut on February 14, 1942 (ASN: 11064927). He served in World War II with Company D, 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division. He was discharged on November 15, 1945 as a Staff Sergeant.

Personal life

The name of his first wife is unknown, he eventually divorced her. He married his second wife which was Irene B. Smith in 1974.

Death

He passed away on April 2, 1997 in West Palm Beach, Florida.[1] He was buried in the David & Israel Cemetery in Providence, Rhode Island.[1]
