Solovey (Old Norse: Sölvi) was a Varangian merchant and adventurer who arrived at Kiev with 30 magnificent longships, whose prows were decorated with heads of aurochs and moose, whose sails were tightly woven canvas, and which had rings of silver and anchors of steel.

He came from the rippling Veter, had crossed the Sea of Dunai to arrive at Nieprovskiy Gorod. He disembarked on a gangway of whale bone (Valtsen) as the guest of Vladimir I of Kiev, playing bylinas from the other side of the sea on a Swedish harp (svirsk).
