General Sir Thomas Saumarez (1 July 1760 – 4 March 1845) was a British General.[1]
Life[]
He was born in Guernsey on 1 July 1760 to Matthew Saumarez and Cartaret Le Marchant. His brothers were Admiral James Saumarez, 1st Baron de Saumarez and Richard Saumarez, a surgeon and medical author.[2]
He married Harriet Brock in 1787, daughter of William Brock and Judith de Beauvoir.[3]
He served in North America during the revolutionary war. He was Equerry and Groom of the Chamber to the Duke of Kent, and afterwards Commander-in-Chief of New Brunswick. He was promoted to full General in 1838.[4][5] [6]
He died in Guernsey on 4 March 1845.[7]
