Middle Eastern Theatre during the Great War

The Wellington Mounted Regiment was a New Zealand Mounted Regiment formed for service during the Great War. It was formed from units of the Territorial Force consisting of the Queen Alexandra's 2nd (Wellington West Coast) Mounted Rifles the 6th (Manawatu) Mounted Rifles and 9th (Wellington East Coast) Mounted Rifles. They served in the Middle Eastern theatre of World War I and first saw action during the Gallipoli Campaign. As a part of the larger New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade (of the ANZAC Mounted Division) they went on to serve in the Sinai and Palestine Campaign.[1][2]
