Awards Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross

Wilhelm von Apell (16 January 1892 – 7 March 1969) was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II who commanded the 22. Panzer-Division. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Wilhelm von Apell was captured by American troops in 1945 and was released in 1947.
